Marriage and Couples Therapy
Being married or cohabiting can be rewarding but also presents challenges to the individuals in the relationship. Sometimes you have no difficulty working out the problems that may crop up but other times the problems prove to be too challenging and you need the help of a neurtral third party. I am trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy as well as Marriage and Family Systems. My work with you and your partner involves helping you to recognize when you are caught up in that negative cycle; stop the cyle from escalating; repair the rift with your partner; tune into your partner and delight in being with one another.
Sessions for couples and families generally require more time simply because more than one person needs to be heard and the issues are often complex. I generally book 90 minute sessions for couples and families in order that each party feels they have a chance to participate in the session. The process of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy usually requires a combination of joint sessions and some individual sessions.
